Swedo Ankle Brace

This brace is used in the chronic ankle sprain to prevent further or recurrent injury to the lateral ligaments. The brace is worn under the high top shoe during sports. Many football teams are now using the Swedo type brace instead of taping.

The DonJoy Custom Functional Brace

The brace is used for the conservative treatment of the torn anterior cruciate ligament, and for the post-op protection of the surgical reconstructed knee.

The brace is customed measured by an orthopedic technician with the above CCMI device. The measurements are faxed to California, and the brace arrives a week later.

The brace appears to be cumbersome, but the athlete is able to return to sports wearing this brace. In this photo a Carleton University soccer player is competing while wearing two DonJoy braces.

The DonJoy defiance brace is also very popular with pro athletes.
