
Patellar Tendon and Hamstring Grafts
Pre-Operative Phase: GOALS:
1. Patient should have full understanding of the operative procedure and postoperative rehabilitation
2. No effusion, full ROM, good quadriceps/hamstrings strength.
Post-Operative Phase: GOALS:
1. Physiotherapy should begin 3-4 days after surgery.
2. Final - Full range of motion, no effusion, and strength equal to opposite knee.
(This protocol is a guideline for post-operative care, there will be variations among individuals. Any alterations in this program should be made by the surgeon or physiotherapist.)
IMPORTANT
i) No active leg extension in last 30°.
ii) No resisted hamstring exercises until 6-weeks post-op if hamstring repair.
PROTOCOL MAY NEED TO BE MODIFIED IF PATELLOFEMORAL PROBLEMS EXIST, OR THE PATIENT HAS LCL/MCL/PCL OR MENISCAL REPAIR INVOLVEMENT.
